Fiji Graduates Encouraged to Keep Learning

Fiji's Minister for Youth and Sports, Commander Viliame Naupoto, told the graduating class of Fiji's Latter-day Saints' Church College this week to embrace change in a changing world.

The Fiji Times reports that the Minister spoke at the LDS Church College graduation ceremony this week.

"Now that you are graduating, do not ever think that learning is now over," Cdr Naupoto said, as quoted in The Fiji Times.

The article continues: "He urged the students to make use of opportunities that came their way, like opportunities with their parents, church, school and universities."

"So do not be afraid to grab opportunities that come by during your lifetime. You have within you resources to help turn those opportunities into success."

The Fiji Times also reports that the Minister urged the youth to be cheerful and kind.

"Smile and be helpful to those you can help in any little way you can and it is good food for your heart and soul," he is quoted as saying to the graduating students.

The Fiji Sun newspaper reported that the college’s dux, Sailoama Vodo of Vunuku "attributed her success to her parents Venilove Vodo, a soldier, and his wife Walesi".

“Thank you dad and mum. Thank you for your encouragement, thank you for all the teachings you gave me. You taught me to work hard, be obedient and fear God. Without you I would not have made it this far,” the newspaper reported her as saying during the graduation ceremony.

Latter-day Saints place strong emphases on helping youth through education and in other ways.
