Young New Zealanders Test Drive New Church App

"Tree of Life AR" app gets a Kiwi road test

Three young New Zealanders, Mau, Bruce and Aretha, recently tested out the new app "Tree of Life AR."

The app provides an opportunity to learn more about Book of Mormon prophet, Lehi, and his vision of the tree of life, as found in 1 Nephi: 8.

This week, Latter-day Saints around the South Pacific, and worldwide, are studying this scriptural account as part of the global "Come, Follow Me" gospel study program.

“You’re able to put images over real world objects," Mau says.

"You’re really able to explore Lehi’s vision of the Tree of Life, some of the characters, which you’re able to interact with, as well as the great and spacious building. So you’re able to understand the symbolism.”

He says that the Tree of Life AR app is "a really good learning tool especially if you’re teaching young children, or just want to learn in a different way.”

Mau's friend, Bruce, said, “I’m a person who learns through imagery. This app would be really good for people who are learning about our church, especially for missionaries who can help other people understand Lehi’s dream a lot better.”

Another friend, Aretha, added, “I definitely recommend it for people with younger families. It’s fun, easy to use and easy to understand.”
