Elder Ardern Speaks Eternal Truths at Auckland Conference

Church leader focuses on ways to strengthen faith and families

Elder Ian S. Ardern, a member of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spoke to members and guests of the Church in Panmure, Auckland on Sunday June 9.

The occasion was a two-day conference which takes place in Latter-day Saint stakes twice a year. A stake is a group of congregations in a geographical area.

Elder Ardern spoke about the benefits of temple worship to individuals and families.

"Attending the temple will alleviate the strain in your life," he said. "It's not that the problems will be removed, but your capacity to cope with the problem will be increased. Therein lies a great blessing of temple attendance."

Other speakers included Elder Robert Gordon, a newly called Area Seventy, and President Dean Westerlund of the Panmure Stake.

Among the special guests at the conference was Paul Young, an Auckland City councillor.

One attendee at the conference, Sierra Keung, said, "I loved the truths that were taught by Elder Ardern this weekend. There is no doubt that he is a witness of Jesus Christ and a representative of Him in the Pacific area."

She added, "Elder Ardern taught us eternal truths simply, and with power and love. That's the Saviour's way."
