Prayer and Preparation Guide Young Athlete's Career

Zion Ioka possessed exceptional rugby talent from an early age.  In addition to being the captain of the Kelston Boys High School team, winning Auckland and national championships, he was player of the year two years in a row.

Zion was also an exceptional student receiving scholastic honours during his high school years.

Then came a life changing moment.  Soon after the championship game, professional rugby teams came calling.  Important decisions were to be made. Zion is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He says his faith has helped him make important decisions.” I was truly grateful for the power of prayer taught to me throughout my life,” he said.  “I used it to guide me.”

Zion

Zion decided to sign a two year contract with the Melbourne Storm, an Australian rugby league team.  "The greatest hardship will be being away from my family and friends,” said Zion.

But having just completed three weeks of hard training he is “loving the experience.”
