    New Zealand Youth Prepare for the Future

    "What should I do after I finish high school?"  

    Over 1200 youth, young adults, and their parents attended Careers Expo 2012 in Manukau this month, hoping to find some answers to this question.  

    Looking to the future, the young people were exposed to information about a variety of careers and job opportunities in fields such as: medicine, social services, commerce, media, engineering, education and trades.

    23 presenters were on hand to inform the young people and answer their questions.

    Attendees learned about selecting a career, what courses or other preparation needed to be made in order to become qualified, and how to pay for courses. 

    The Careers Expo is a yearly event sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  

    Mormons place great value in learning and literacy and believe in the importance of both secular and spiritual education.  

    President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Church's First Presidency said, "Please encourage your families....to learn and become better educated."  

    Dean Westerlund, Careers Expo organizer and Chair of the Latter-day Saints' Employment Resource Centre Committee, said, "This is our time to help the rising generation."
