New Zealand Women of Faith: Ellen Chan

On 8 March, women (and men) around the world will celebrate International Women’s Day.  Leading up to that day, and as a contribution to the many conversations going on in honour of women, Pacific Mormon Newsroom is profiling a number of Mormon women who call New Zealand home.

Ellen Chan

While she is only 18-years-old, Ellen Chan has experienced her fair share of pressure as an accomplished pianist and university student. Faced with her own high expectations and a desire to succeed, Ellen finds comfort and confidence through her faith.

Ellen says she has learnt that she is never alone and can turn to Jesus Christ through prayer and fasting.

She says she knows that He is there to listen, comfort and guide her every step of the way. This has allowed her to experience joy and confidence as she has made important decisions and prepared for both exams and performances.

Faith, she says, is the foundation of her success.

“I used to think I could be independent and do everything on my own.  It was a big wake up call to realize I can’t do it all by myself.”
