New Zealand Latter-day Saint Organises Community Seminar on Strengthening Families

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Tauranga, New Zealand brought family experts together last week for a wananga [seminar] on strengthening families.

Judah Kohu, who serves as Sunday School president in his local Latter-day Saint congregation, saw a need in his community to help more families experiencing difficulties.

He organised the wananga with influential leaders and providers, educators and social workers in the Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke areas.

The aim was to support those who work to help families overcome many of the present-day issues which confront them.

The community based programme, held at Waikari Marae on 3 April, was sponsored by the Western Bay of Plenty Primary Health Organisation and Te Runanga o Ngai Te Rangi.

Respected speakers Herewini Jones and Les Harris donated their time and expertise in support of the gathering.

Tauranga City Mayor Stuart Crosby was represented by recently appointed Deputy Mayor, Kelvin Crout.
