New Presidency Called for Fiji Suva Stake

Sunday was a historical day for the 2,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints of the Fiji Suva Stake as their president, Etika Sefeti, was released from his calling after 10 years of service.

He is succeeded by Kamoe Varea, formerly a bishop of the Suva 3rd ward.

President Varea will be assisted by two counsellors: Jese Kama and Ernest Vitinavulagi.

Suva Stake Presidency

Kamoe Varea a retiree from Vodafone  said "he didn’t expect the calling but accepted it as it comes from God."

He said he felt honoured to be given the responsibility to serve in this capacity.

He knows that "though there are a lot of challenges ahead [he] has two counsellors who will assist him in pushing forth this great work of the gospel for the next few years."

Stake presidents usually serve for eight to 10 years.

Interestingly, the incoming president, Varea, is related to Etika Sefeti  and as a member of the Church he had watched his relative as he in carried out his responsibilities.
