Mormon and Catholic Young Adults Help Auckland City Mission

Young members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Catholic Diocese of Auckland worked together this week to prepare sweet treats to deliver to the Auckland City Mission.

The Auckland City Mission helps thousands of people in desperate need. In the past twelve months the mission has provided 11,349 emergency food parcels to families and individuals.

The young adults gathered together Wednesday evening 27 May at the Pompallier Diocesan Centre in St Mary’s Bay.

Teresa McNamara, team leader for Catholic Youth and Young Adult Ministry, and support co-ordinator Rochelle Dias, organised the service project and group activities.

Teresa said, “It was our privilege to have young people from the Latter-day Saints working in collaboration with us to provide dessert for the city mission.”

Charlton Martin, a Latter-day Saint participant, said, “Through the Catholic outreach program we have been able to get to know their young adults and join together in a service project that will hopefully provide good treats for the Auckland City Mission."
