Elder Kevin W. Pearson Visits Latter-day Saints in Marquesas Islands

Elder Kevin W. Pearson, president of the Pacific Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with members and guests of the Church in the Marquesas Islands last weekend (19-20 March).

Elder Pearson described his visit as “two extraordinary days among beautiful people.”

He was accompanied by president of the Tahiti Papeete Mission, Pierre François Bize.

Elder Pearson expressed his love for the Marquisates and assured them that God loves them and cares about each person.

“I know He hears and responds to all your prayers. He remembers His children wherever they are. He knows us and He knows where we are,” Elder Pearson said.

He added, “It is fundamental to not seek your own will but to align with the will of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father,” he said.

“It’s not God who must adapt to the desires of men, but man who has to align with God’s commands.”

Elder Pearson said the purpose of his visit was to encourage the Latter-day Saints “to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, to be obedient and increase their faith.”

He said this meant “not just believing, but acting by keeping God’s commandments.”

Then,” he added, “we will receive blessings and spiritual power from our Heavenly Father.”

The visiting leaders also met with local government officials during their stay.
