Elder and Sister Cardon Welcome Community Leaders to Christmas Lights Program

Elder Craig A. Cardon of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanied by his wife, Sister Deborah Cardon, last night welcomed dignitaries to a reception to mark the beginning of this year's Christmas lighting program in Temple View, Hamilton.

The reception was held in the home of Michael A. Roberts and Christine Roberts, president and matron of the Church's Hamilton New Zealand Temple.

"Christ is the light and the life of the world," Elder Cardon told guests. "And the Christmas lights adorning the temple grounds during the Christmas season when we celebrate His birth represent the light He brought into the world through His birth and Atonement."

Among the guests last night at the Christmas lights program was mayor of Waipa District, James Mylchrest.

Mayor Mylchrest has attended the lighting program for the last three years and said he "wouldn't miss it, as it starts the Christmas season off in a special way."
