On Sunday, 6 May, a new congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was formed in Lauli’I, American Samoa. Previously, Church members in Lauli’i joined with fellow members in Auto to worship.
The Lauli’i Branch began meeting on 13 May under the direction of branch president Failelei Tuifelasa’i and his counsellors Kilipati Tuiasau and Siailaoa Ta’alolo. Tuifelasa’i was formerly a counsellor in the leadership of the Auto Ward.

This is the second time the Auto Ward (congregation) has split to create a new branch (a small congregation). The first time it split, the Fagaitua Branch in Pagai (an area around the village of Fagaitua) was created.
