Church Congratulates Samoan Head of State on Appointment

Representing the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder O. Vincent Haleck, president of the Church’s Pacific Area, delivered a letter of congratulations on Friday 15 December to His Highness Tuimalealiifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II, Samoa’s recently-appointed Head of State.

Accompanied by his wife, Peggy Haleck, and Elder Meliula M. Fata, Area Seventy, and his wife, Ponaivao L. Fata, Elder Haleck presented the letter to the Head of State at his office in Moto’otua.

The letter was signed by Thomas S. Monson, president of the Church, and his two counsellors, Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

The Samoa Head of State is viewed as the father of the nation.He is also a national leader by customs and traditions and is highly respected throughout Samoa.
