Latter-day Saints Prepare to Turn on Christmas Lights in Temple View

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host government, community and faith leaders, along with tens of thousands of other visitors at “Christmas Lights: The Family Celebration of the Birth of Christ” event at the Hamilton New Zealand Temple Visitors’ Centre and Temple grounds from 13-31 December.

The Christmas season is a time filled with rich traditions for people all over the world and Hamilton is no exception.  A display of Christmas lights on the Hamilton New Zealand Temple grounds is one such tradition visitors have enjoyed for many years.

Elder Ronald K. Hawkins, director of the Hamilton New Zealand Visitors’ Centre, says he is thrilled about this year's Christmas lighting program. “We're excited to have the return of live choir music! Our scripture story boards are back! We'll have beautiful lighting and special videos that tell the Christmas story!  What a perfect way to share Christmas with family and friends.”

Lights will be on from 8:00pm to 10:30pm each night from 13 to 31 December.  Choirs will perform Tuesday through Saturday nights leading up to Christmas.  All are invited to visit and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.
