Australian Latter-day Saint Couple Featured by Media

Even after 73 years of marriage, Australian couple Bob and Alma Jackson believe they will be married forever, according to an article published in several Australian newspapers today, including The Daily Mercury.

The Jacksons “have been married twice in 73 years, the first time vowing till death do us part and the second time in a Mormon temple where they were married for eternity,” the report says.

“The couple, who are both in their 90s, have recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary at their home in the Chelsea Retirement Village in Maryborough.”

The Jacksons, and other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, believe that marriages performed in temples are “sealed” or blessed to last for eternity. They also believe that family relationships can endure beyond death.
