#LIGHTtheWORLD: Day 1 in the Pacific

Wellington siblings, Cody (six) and Asher (10), had the following conversation yesterday, after they baked and delivered treats for a sick friend who lives next door:

Cody: "Can we make more cookies for someone else?"

Asher: "It's always nice to give to other people because it makes them feel good."

Cody and Asher were among those who took part yesterday in service-related activities, inspired by the #LIGHTtheWORLD Christmas inititiave.

A youth group in Auckland "pixie-dropped" treats to unsuspecting families.

Other teenagers unpacked boxes and set up a Christmas tree with decorations for a woman who just moved from Palmerston North to Auckland.

Auckland man, Keith Chapman, said the idea of lifting someone else's burdens was on his mind as he took his lunch break yesterday.

"I said a small prayer as I walked," he said. "And within 30 seconds I found a woman with a baby and a large pram, struggling to come down some stairs, whom I was able to assist."

He added, "Serving others in Christ-like ways doesn't take much, and it blesses the giver and the recipient.

"If you actively look for ways to help others, they will come."
