Samoan news media organisations published several articles about the visit of President Russell M. Nelson to the Pacific island nation of Samoa this weekend.

One newspaper reported on Sunday 19 May, "The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson, had a special request for the Samoa Observer when they touched down in Samoa on Saturday.

“'Please convey our love and gratitude to the people of Samoa,'"

The article continues to quote President Nelson: “I love the people of Samoa, and they love the Church, they love the Lord and we wanted to come and have a connection, with me and my new calling.”
