Putting Faith into Action

Otara Latter-day Saints Serve Disadvantaged Aucklanders

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Auckland suburb of Otara came together recently to donate, sort and deliver personal care items to the Auckland City Mission. Items donated included toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, washers and other personal care supplies.

The Latter-day Saints delivered three containers of personal care items to Auckland City Mission for distribution to men, women and children in need

An additional 100 “Love Packs,” as participants called them, were delivered to the Latter-day Saints’ New Zealand Missionary Training Centre (MTC) on Redoubt Road, Manukau.  These packs will be given to missionaries arriving at the MTC who may not have all the items with them.

According to Alexander Gasu, a spokesperson for the Church in Otara, “It was a wonderful service project.  The unity and love felt was amazing.”
