20 young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sang for members of the Auckland Interfaith Council last week.
The children, aged three to 12, sang the Latter-day Saint songs, "Love one another" and "I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus."
Church spokesperson in the Auckland New Zealand Mt Roskill Stake, Mrs Viola Laban, said, “Their performance was very heart warming and brought into the meeting a sweet spirit as they sang about the Saviour’s love for all of God’s children. We were very proud of them."
Latter-day Saint children around the world meet each Sunday in "Primary" to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, participate in learning activities, and sing songs.
There are over one million Primary children in the world.
Guest speaker at the interfaith meeting, Mr Anthony Wilson, is President of the Auckland New Zealand Mt. Roskill Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“We teach our congregations of children and adults to live 'the Golden Rule' and to follow the example of our Saviour, Jesus Christ,” he said.
Guests included representatives of Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Bahai, Catholic and other Christian faiths.
The Auckland Interfaith Council is a non-profit association of persons who collectively represent the diversity of faiths and religious traditions in Auckland.
