Latter-day Saint Leaders Attend Funeral Services for Tonga’s Queen Mother

Leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints participated in funeral services for Tonga's Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho on Wednesday 1 March in Nuku'alofa.

   

Elder O. Vincent Haleck, president of the Pacific Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanied by his wife, Peggy Haleck, attended the services on behalf of the Church.

Also attending was Elder Aisake Tukuafu, of the Seventy, and other Tongan Latter-day Saint leaders.

"Her Majesty Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho’s death is a loss to the Kingdom of Tonga," Elder Haleck said.  "We join with our friends across Tonga and worldwide in remembering the life and many contributions of Her Majesty."

"We pray that members of the Royal Family and others who knew and loved Her Majesty will be comforted at this time."
