#LIGHTtheWORLD: Day 9 in the Pacific

A group of families in Auckland sang Christmas carols to residents in a retirement home this afternoon, inspired by the #LIGHTtheWORLD Christmas initiative.

The group also shared gifts of cookies and other treats with the elderly folks.

When asked how he felt singing for and talking with the residents, five-year-old Adam said he felt "One thousand times happy."

Mother of four, Heather, said, "What a beautiful teaching opportunity to have as a mother to have my children experience first-hand the joy of serving those who are often forgotten.  I am excited to make this a new family tradition!"

"Christmas is often about gathering with loved ones, exchanging gifts, and being grateful for the birth of Jesus Christ," said father of four, Mark.

"But it's also about finding someone who may be lonely, or sad, and giving them your time and love. That's what Christ did 2,000 years ago, and we can do the same today."

Many Latter-day Saints and others around the world are giving service to others each day during the Christmas season, part of the #LIGHTtheWORLD Christmas initiative.
